The fourth-generation of Land Rover’s most mainstream yet profitable and successful SUV arrived today for its Paris debut. We are of course talking about the Range Rover which will go on sale in 170 markets worldwide starting this December.
The new SUV makes headline in one very significant way, through it’s loss of weight, which can be up to 26lbs or 420kg, depending on the model. It’s also significantly more refined and obviously more economical.
In Europe, the Range Rover MkIV will come with three engines at launch. There’s two diesels, the 255hp (258PS) 3.0-litre TDV6 and the 334hp (339PS) 4.4-litre SDV8 engines, and also a singe petrol, the supercharged V8 with 503hp (510PS) 5.0-liter.
Meanwhile, North American customers will also be offered a naturally aspirated V8 with 375 hp. The future hold greener things as well, because LandRover will put a hybrid V6 diesel in there as well.
"The new Range Rover preserves the essential, unique character of the vehicle – that special blend of luxury, performance and unmatched all-terrain capability," said John Edwards, Land Rover Global Brand Director. "However, its clean sheet design and revolutionary lightweight construction have enabled us to transform the experience for luxury vehicle customers, with a step change in comfort, refinement and handling."
