Hialeah Police Detectives charged 25-year old Tyrell Johnson and his girlfriend, 26-year old Josephine Laidler, with child neglect after the duo left their two children alone inside a parked car outside Hialeah Park Casino, after midnight Thursday. The two boys, aged 1 and 4, were found by a security guard, as the surveillance video shows.

Later on, police found the children asleep inside the running car with the doors unlocked. They went inside the casino and announced they were looking for the parents. Minutes later, both showed up and were detained. The next day in court, the judge granted Laidler’s parents custody of the boys.

The judge issued a no contact order between the parents and the children until the next court date, set for September 12. So now the couple is facing child endangerment charges and have been ordered to have no contact with their children while the investigation is being run.

We’re obviously looking at a vice some people have, which in this case is gambling. But it might also be some sort of new phenomena and not just a one time thing. According to WSVN, similar cases have happened before in South Florida.
