James Glickenhaus' Ferrari P4/5 Competizione claimes the fastest time set by a Prancing Horse on the 'RIng at this year's Nurburgring 24h race. The machine caught fire shortly after that, like all fast Ferraris do, and was partially destroyed.

But the beast has risen from the ashes and is now once again ready to pull in enthouziasts and journalists with its awesome performance. We still have no idea why Ferrari in their right mind pulled its support from this amazing project.

The 430 Italia based race car went round the Nurburgring in just 6:51, faster even than a 599XX race car.

The P4/5 was unexpectedly sighted at the Pistenclub trackday event at Imola over the weekend by supercar spotter Marchettino. The spectacular engine sound is coming from a 4.0L V8 Ferrari engine with 500hp. The chassis is developed from the 430 Scuderia and the engine and gearbox are from the 430 GT2 car. The 2012 edition features a KERS (Kinetic Energy Recovery System) system brought by Magneti Marelli.
