Oshkosh to Expand Wisconsin Plant
- Oshkosh to Expand Wisconsin facility
- The new plant to be ready by summer 2010
- It will be used to paint FMTVs
Oshkosh's plans call for a new 150,000-square-foot electrocoat (E-coat) painting facility to support the production of the Family of Medium Tactical Vehicles (FMTV) for the US Army. The new facility is scheduled to brake ground by the end of this year and is supposed to be ready by summer 2010.
“We look forward to working with the city and the state as we move forward on this project, which was outlined in our original proposal to our customer. It is so important to have support from our community as we continue to build the products that protect the men and women in our military forces,” Robert Bohn, Oshkosh Corporation CEO says in a release.
“This new, state-of-the-art E-coat facility will complement our industry-leading manufacturing capabilities, and has the potential to significantly increase our operations and further secure our place as a premier manufacturer in the community.”
The new facility comes to support the recent contracts awarded by the US Army to Oshkosh, for the delivery of some 23,000 vehicles and trailers (FMTV) over the next five years. The MTVs are a family of 23 variants and 17 models of trucks and trailers, ranging from 2.5-ton to 5-ton payloads. The first such vehicles are expected to exit the assembly lines in mid-2010

I'm sorry but OSHKOSH is not a true manufacturing facility. A real manufacturing facility has an assembly line, e-coat systems and DC tooling. BAE systems has what it takes to build the FMTV trucks and trailers for the army. OSHKOSH can't even build the freaking M-ATV trucks that was awarded to them last summer. BAE systems in OHIO is building these trucks for them. OSHKOSH hired BAE to sub contract these trucks just to make there freaking numbers. Oh but OSHKOSH is getting all the credit from Robert Gates. Our defense secertary is so brain washed by our president. I hear that if the pentagon does not over turn the award that BAE systems in OHIO will build all of the cabs and send them to freaking WISCONSIN. Now how ridiculous is that. Freaking OBAMA, he is making a big mistake. Well, if the pentagon decides to stay with OSHKOSH for the FMTV contract BAE will receive an extra year contract just so OSHKOSH can make there numbers. Now you people from OSHKOSH go ahead and make a comment about my statement. You know i'm right.
