Opel has picked up the cool van trend that’s been taking the light commercial vehicle industry to new posh heights over the last few years. As a result, the carmaker gifted us with the Vivaro Surf Concept on the Frankfurt floor.
The vehicle, which can cater to the sports vacations needs of up to six people, uses the Vivaro CrewCab van as a starting point and can come in both standard and long-wheelbase form. The main trick is a dedicated cargo area that can carry your sandy/muddy gear after a trip. This measures 3.2 cubic meters (113 cubic feet) or 4.0 cubic meters (141 cu-ft) for the long wheelbase incarnation.
The cabin was fitted with plenty of goodies, with Opel turning to Snoeks Automotive for various cool practicality solutions. From a massive storage box hiding under the second row of seats, to other storage compartment and a rail system for the cargo area mentioned above, this Opel is ready for your equipment.
While everybody can be informed thanks to the Navi 50 IntelliLink infotainment system, you can also order an auxiliary heating system, so winter trips are just as pleasant as those taken in the summer.
The coziness level is also maintained by the self-levelling rear air suspension, which can lower the vehicle by 70 mm (2.75 inches) to 1.9 meters (6.23 feet). A feature that comes in handy when you want to access multi-storey parking lots.
Your fun-hauling needs will be catered to by a BiTurbo 1.6-liter CDTI diesel delivering 140 hp and 340 Nm (251 lb-ft) of torque.
We didn’t have trouble spotting the Vivaro Surf Concept on the Frankfurt floor, as the two-tone color scheme sets the vehicle apart. Moreover, Irmscher (Opel’s favorite tuner) has supplied a set of custom wheels for the van.
Opel is currently analysing the public’s reaction and will probably put this into production as a limited edition for the Vivaro.
