Opel Karl / Vauxhall Viva Revealed, to Debut at the Geneva Motor Show in 2015

Don’t know how much you’ve been waiting for this model to be revealed, but here’s the new entry-level car from Opel and Vauxhall. Going by the name of Karl or Viva if it wears Vauxhall badges, this little bugger promises a lot of goodies and roominess.

What you can see in the photo gallery below are the first official pics of the new nameplate before it will be officially launched at Geneva. Size-wise, the 2015 Opel Karl / Vauxhall Viva slots between the fashionable Adam and the Corsa supermini.

As the two GM brands are stating, “customers will be able to purchase a 3.68-meter (12.07 feet) long, attractive five-door car with space for up to five people for less than €10,000,” a sum that translates to £7,910 / $12,375 when converted to current exchange rates. That’s a good price for what the Karl / Viva comes with.

Ten exterior paint finishes, 14 to 16 inch alloys, the all-new and smooth 1-liter three-pot EcoTec turbo banger with 75 PS on tap, a good ol’ five-speed manual transmission, as well as a lot of technologies.

Although it’s a soft machine that wasn’t designed to be hooned too much in the corners, the Karl / Viva comes packed with numerous safety features and tech-savviness to suit almost everyone's needs.

Keep in mind the aforementioned pricing, then try to take in the following:

ABS, ESP, traction control, electronic brake-force distribution, Hill Start Assist come as standard, while the Lane Departure Warning feature is optional. In City mode, the steering is soft as jello for effortless maneuvering. Park Assist, cornering lights , as well as cruise control with speed limiter are available too.

Last but not least, the 2015 Opel Karl / 2015 Vauxhall Viva will benefit from GM’s IntelliLink touchscreen infotainment system if you pay extra. Highlight comfort features also include a sunroof for the summer and heated front seats and steering wheel for winter driving.

We’re not won over by the styling of this model, but if the sub-€10,000 sticker price stands and the base model isn’t a spartan job, then the Karl / Viva is a great deal in terms of bang for the buck. Good job, GM!
