One-off 1912 Packard Model 1-48 Custom Runabout Up for Auction
“Ready for a leisurely tour or a quick transcontinental journey, this Packard custom runabout will be an asset to any collection, particularly that of a marque historian, who will certainly appreciate its early history,” a company statement from RM Auctions reads.
The 1912 Packard Model 1-48 custom runabout has been used as a promotional car, being fitted with a 45-gallon fuel tank for long-distance travel. Later on, in 1969, he car has bee restored, receiving the rear trunk and a seat on the left rear fender.
Finished in soft ivory with black accent moldings and red pinstripes, it has red running gear, hubs and rims.The seats are buttoned red leather, aged but neither worn nor torn; the top and side curtains are all in good condition.
“The car shows signs of age and use but has been nicely maintained to a good standard. All brass is in good condition, if not recently detailed, and the engine compartment is generally clean but clearly demonstrates that the car is frequently driven,” the statement reads.
