Old Volkswagen Beetle Gets Mechanized Targa Roof in Brazil

It's no secret that the Volkswagen Beetle has been motorizing Brazil since 1953 and we also don't need anybody to spill the beans on the fact that people over in that country have a thing for partying.

So, what do you get when you combine the two? Well, in order to use a car for the kind of celebration stunts Brazilians like to pull (think: Carnival of Brazil), this should have an open top, allowing its occupants to share the joy with those outside the vehicle.

However, canvas top convertibles may not be special enough for wild parties, but the open-air Beetle in the piece of footage below certainly ticks that box.

Heck, this Beetle is a bit of a spectacle in itself, since it packs a custom Targa roof. And we're not talking about the kind that requires manual labor. Instead, this once plays on the connection between the Beetle and the Porsche 911, coming up with a mechanized system.

Sure, given the details of this car, don't expect its weather protection hardware to pack the level of engineering we've seen on the 991 Targa. Instead, we're dealing with the kind of mechanism which might just give OCD car guys nightmares in terms of maintenance. Then again, such stressful thoughts have no place in the world of partying, so we'll focus on the other details of the car.

And we have plenty of goodies to talk about, as this is one highly-polished Fusca (this is how they call the car in that part of the world). When it comes to the exterior, the Apple Candy paint, and the chrome wheels are the elements that draw the most attention.

As for the interior, our eyes were caught by the pair of bucket seats up front, which may have more to do with the seats in a GT3 RS than with the standard units of a 911 Targa.

You can check out this Targa Vee-Dub doing its transformation things in the piece of footage below.
