Now that the so-called launch shock of the 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 has passed, you'd expect drivers of the American supercar to settle down a little and perhaps stop street racing their Z06s as if that was the only driving mode available. Alas, it looks like certain Z06 drivers are simply too tight behind the wheel and we're not reffering to street battles here.
As you can see above, the elderly lady driving the Torch Red Z06 'Vette above is a pretty good example of what it literally means to not be able to loosen up behind the wheel.
The issue here is that this doesn't only look... out of place - it is out of place, since an airbag deployment could bring serious injury risks when the driver's head is so close to the steering wheel. Besides, barely being able to see past the wheel isn't exactly the best asset when you've got 650 ponies under your right foot.
As a general seating position rule, when you are well tucked inside the driver's seat, with your back in full contact with the backrest, your arms (completely extended) should see the wrists touch the top of the steering wheel. And the correct position for your hands is the "9:15", not the "2:10" seen above.
You may recognise the issue if your mother has ever attempted to drive your sportscar. Having to slide the seat all the way forward in order to reach the pedals is a serious issue.
This is where Viper fans may rejoyce, since the Z06's arch rival does come with adjustable pedals, while the Corvette lacks such a feature. Nevertheless, before we turn this into a battle between the two, it's best to sway and mention that you can get aftermarket pedal extenders. Sure, anything that's not OEM and stands between the driver and the controls seems like an extra risk, but in cases such as this one, it may all be worth it.
