Oettinger Remaps VW Group's 1.6 TDI Engine

Downsizing is THE word in the automotive industry these days and tuners are, of course, as up to date as possible. The latest modification goodie for an engine that follows the aforementioned concept has been released by Oettinger, which is targeting the 1.6-liter TDI unit of the VW Group, which can be found on models belonging to the Audi, SEAT, Skoda and Volkswagen brands.

In factory stock form, the unit offers 90 hp or 105 hp, with Oettinger introducing ECU remaps that increse the aforementioned values to 110 hp and 125 hp, respectively. In addition to that, the peak torque is boosted to 300 Nm (221 lb-ft), a value that can be translated into a 45 Nm (33 lb-ft) increase.

The extra muscle means that the oil-burner can bring the car to 62 mph 0.6 seconds faster and increase its top speed by 3-5 mph (5-8 km/h), depending on the features, as well as on the rim/tire combination of the vehicle it is used for.

As always it is here that the individual development and the related intensive testing on both the test bed and track that separates the wheat from the chaff. For over half a century now OETTINGER propagates the reputation of developing first class and reliable engine tuning. And it is for this reason that OETTINGER also offer two years guarantee on engine, gearbox and drive train,” a company statement reads.

The ECU remap is offered for a price of EUR990, but only until June 30 - its price list sits at EUR1,090.
