Norwegian Buddies Visit 19 Countries in 24 Hours, Set New World Record

Three longtime pals decided it was time to take another try in beating the world record for the number of countries visited by somebody in 24 hours, after failing to succeed this May. Last month, the trio set a new world record, as they made it to 19 different countries across Europe in one full day, beating the previous record with two countries.

They took a picture in every country, filmed their experience and now claim they want to make a documentary about the adventure.

The crazy friends - Gunnar Garfors, 39, Tay-young Pak, 42, and Øystein Djupvik, 40 – started their trip in Greece at midnight on September 22. From there they went through a northwestern route, passing through 18 other countries: Bulgaria, Macedonia, Kosova, Serbia, Croatia, Bosnia, Slovenia, Austria, Hungary, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, France and Switzerland. They were very close to reaching the 20th country, but bad weather stopped them from marking Italy as well.

A lot of planning and some sacrifices

There is a lot of planning ahead to actually make such a journey possible, but the Norwegians claim anybody could do it. The trio used only rental cars and took two commercial flights – Macedonia to Serbia, and Austria to Germany. Counting any minute asks for sacrifices, as they didn’t have much time to stop and eat, nor for other basic needs. They even used a peeing bottle when there was no time to stop for a bathroom break.

Like any crazy journey of such, the Norwegians also stumbled upon some weird situations. One of them was a border crossing queue in Kosovo that was so long they had to abandon their car and sprint across and back, just so they could add this country to their list of visited places.

Until the documentary is released you can take a quick look at the teaser they did we listed below.
