Remember the intriguing Norton Domiracer retro track bike? Yes, the one with the very loud MotoGP-like exhausts and skimpy looks. If you enjoyed it, you can open a bottle of champagne because Donington Hall is preparing a new production model based on it for 2015. The name of the production racer is Dominator SS and Norton says a lower-spec bike can also be expected in the future, albeit without the SS appendix.
The all-new Norton Dominator SS will be a very exclusive machine, with only 50 units expected to be manufactured in 2015 and yet unknown plans for the future. The Dominator SS is so exclusive that it will be “privately previewed at an exclusive evening to be held at Donington Hall at the end of January 2015,” as official Norton sources let us know.

A track bike with street-legal amenities

The Norton Dominator SS is still a machine engineered to deliver top performance on the closed circuit. A track bike par excellence, the initial Domiracer was however offered in a road-legal trim to customers who wanted to take the circuit thrills to the street level, and the Dominator SS is expected to be also a road going model.

At the moment, no official info is offered as to whether the Dominator SS will also be a road motorcycle or it will only be offered as a track fun bike only. Norton’s new sport motorcycle is said to be styled similarly to the Domiracer, even though the rumor mill claims there will not be as many high-end parts in the production version. As mentioned above the launch will take place in the UK in late January, with the rest of the world seeing the bike later in 2015.

Bigger-run Norton Dominator bikes ahoy

The house of Donington is also said to be working on a lower-spec version of the bike which is supposed to be offered as the “standard” Dominator. The SS machine will only help launch the new model, with its future past the 50 units scheduled for 2015 still uncertain.

Norton’s Dominator will be an ongoing model for the house of Donington and we will most likely be getting more news after the SS is revealed in the UK. No prices have beenmentioned, but the Domiracer was rumored to sell for around €30,000 ($41,000). Norton describes the Domiracer as “hugely successful” so we might expect its successor to follow in its steps.

If Donington manages to avoid the long delivery times they struggled with in the past, we believe that the historic British maker is completely back on track.
