In production since calendar year 2012 and model year 2013, the fourth-generation Nissan Pathfinder has been revamped for 2017. The latest model year brings a prettier face, a more efficient engine, loads of tech, and a negligible retail price increase.
Let’s get down to business by crunching some numbers. For the 2016 Nissan Pathfinder, base price sans destination and delivery charge is $29,830. As for the 2017 Nissan Pathfinder, you’ll have to pony up at least $29,990.

At the other end of the spectrum, we have the Pathfinder that goes by the name of Platinum 4WD. In this configuration, the price is $43,560. Other than the fact it cost $70 more than before, what else is noteworthy?

I don’t know if I’m growing a liking to sport utility vehicles, but the 2017 Nissan Pathfinder looks considerably better than the former model year. The bold front fascia with boomerang-like headlights does it for me. Another finer point of the Pathfinder is the 3.5-liter direct-injected V6 engine, which is more powerful and more efficient than the same unit without direct injection.

"Like every area of a vehicle, engines evolve. The key in doing so successfully is in understanding where you are going with the changes," declared Michael Bunce, vice president of Product Planning at Nissan North America. "With the new Pathfinder, the goal wasn't to add raw power, it was to enhance driving feel and confidence across the entire rpm range - whether merging on a freeway on-ramp or pulling a trailer full of watercraft up to a mountain lake."

With 284 horsepower and 259 lb-ft (351 Nm) of torque, plus a towing capacity of 6,000 pounds (2,721 kilograms), the Nissan Pathfinder also takes delight in the same EPA-rated fuel economy as its forerunner. On the safety front, the 2017 model year can be had with the whole nine yards: Forward Emergency Braking, Intelligent Cruise Control, Around View Monitor with Moving Object Detection, you name it, the Nissan Pathfinder has it.

The 2017 Nissan Pathfinder will be manufactured in Smyrna, Tennessee, and it will go on sale this week at Nissan dealers across the United States.
