Earlier this month, Nissan began rolling out an innovative new incentive for Nissan Leaf buyers called the “No Charge to Charge” program. This program applies to anyone who has purchased a Nissan Leaf after April 1, 2014, and it gives them free access to public charging stations for two years including more than 2,600 charging stations and more than 200 quick chargers.
These buyers will be given an EZ-Charge card that can be used at public charging stations operated by ChargePoint, Blink, CarCharging, AeroVironment and NRG eVgo. For participating customers, these charging stations can be found using the EZ-Charge.com or PlugShare.com websites or the PlugShare smartphone app, which is available for Android or iOS. As an added bonus, Nissan is currently supporting the installation of 500 quick chargers at Nissan dealerships, private businesses and city buildings. Quick chargers are able to give the Nissan Leaf battery and 80 percent charge in just 30 minutes.

Right now, the “No Charge to Charge” program is available in just 10 key markets for the Nissan Leaf consisting of San Francisco, CA; Sacramento, CA; San Diego, CA; Seattle, WA; Portland, OR; Phoenix, AZ; Dallas-Ft. Worth, TX; Houston, TX; Washington, D.C.; and, of course, Nissan’s North American hometown, Nashville, TN. Nissan says that it will be expanding the program over the next year to include an addition 15 markets, which have yet to be announced.

"Free charging is a great way for Nissan and our charging partners to make LEAF an unbeatable value for the average American driver," said Brendan Jones, director, Nissan Electric Vehicle Sales and Infrastructure. "The popularity of 'No Charge to Charge' since our April announcement shows that public charging spurs range confidence and additional LEAF sales."

Sales of the Nissan Leaf have taken off this year with year-to-date sale up 29.4 percent over last year, but the “No Charge to Charge” incentive should help lure in even more buyers.
