As the advancements in the IT industry continue and the integration of IT technologies in the automotive industry progresses, more and more high-end technologies come to solve problems some of us didn't even know even existed.

Advocates who cry for less use of what they call distracting technologies in vehicles will have a field day with Nissan's new Moving Object Detection (MOD) function to the Around View Monitor system, a tool meant to sense and alert the driver of the presence of a moving object near the car.

Apparently, pedestrians, dogs or perhaps insects are a big threat for the vehicle and its driver while parking. MOD with the Around View Monitor system uses both the screen display and an audio buzzer to alert the driver of the presence of a moving object in the vicinity of the car.

The system is designed to work for both the front and the rear parts of the car. To set the two audible warning sounds apart, MOD will buzz when it detects something at the rear of the car and will give an audible warning when the object is in front.

“MOD helps provide the driver with supplemental information when starting the car or driving at low speeds, thereby contributing to greater sense of security while driving, as well as during parking procedures. As always, it is the driver's responsibility to make sure his or her surroundings are safe before proceeding,” the Japanese manufacturer says about its new system.

MOD is meant as a tool which will help the driver see in places where he would normally not be able to see, such as right- and left-side blind spots. According to Nissan, MOD does not require an additional sensor.
