Nissan Global Compact Car Sketch Revealed
The compact will take its place alongside the other car planned by Nissan to take over the world, the Leaf. The electric vehicle, who's details have been released in early August, is currently being evaluated to give it a competitive pricing.
Whereas the details of the soon-to-be compact have not been released, the price issue is as important. "Competitive pricing is going to allow mass-market appeal, which is going to set Nissan apart,” Larry Dominique, Nissan vice president of product planning for Nissan North America said.
Nissan is preparing to launch the new global platform to build the next generation Micra, who's production will be moved from India to the UK. The global compact will also be built in China and Thailand.
In the beginning of September, Dongfeng and Nissan announced they will build a second plant in China which will increase the production output to 600,000 units. The new production line will be operational in 2012.
According to just-auto.com, Nissan will eventually build both hatchbacks and sedans in five of the seven countries it has plants in. "We still have not taken a decision on the other two countries," a Nissan executive told the source.
Details on the global compact will be released as we get closer to the official launch.
