Nissan Announces Limited-Production GT-R SpecV

Nissan Motor today announced it plans to produce a limited-series GT-R SpecV model that will only go on sale at a few authorized dealerships across Japan starting February 2, 2009. As expected, the limited-production GT-R SpecV comes with several exclusive features and is targeted specifically “at enthusiast drivers who desire race car-level performance in a street-legal vehicle,” as the Japanese automaker said in a statement for the press.

The new model is obviously based on the popular GT-R sports car, but incorporates an unique body, interior and performance equipment and modifications, according to the same statement. The exterior styling modifications include a carbon fiber rear spoiler, a carbon fiber grille plus carbon fiber brake ducts. The limited-production version is available in a single unique color, namely Ultimate Black Opal. The interior has been modified with Recaro carbon fiber bucket seats plus carbon fiber insets decorations for
the rear center storage box and the instrument panel.

In terms of engine performance, Nissan says it “enhanced with a new high gear boost control device, which momentarily increases boost of the engine's twin turbochargers for greater torque in the intermediate-to-high speed ranges to provide a more powerful feeling of acceleration, while also allowing the engine to operate at a lower speed for improved fuel economy.”

And because all the aforementioned parts are entirely or partially made of carbon fiber, which reduces the overall weight of the car, Nissan followed the same design line with the wheels that are manufactured of forged aluminum. “The lighter unsprung weight provided by the new wheels, together with the enhanced braking capability, an exclusive suspension and high-grip tires, combine to deliver the SpecV's exceptional performance,” Nissan said.

Each of these limited-production models will be available at a price of 15,750,000 yen (approximately 171,517.5 U.S. dollars).
