New Yamaha R&D Center Prepares 100cc Bike for International Markets
This new research and development center is Yamaha's fifth such operation, after the ones in Japan, Thailand, China, Taiwan and Italy, in Europe. Yamaha plans to open up yet another R&D center in Chennai, home of the Indian biking industry.
The new 100cc-class machine is intended to chew on the market share of similar bikes, such as the Hero Splendor and Passion X Pro, Honda Dream Yuga and CB Twister, Bajaj Discover 100T, TVS Star series, or Suzuki Hayate. Just these few ones should be enough to give a good image on how "crowded" the Asian market is.
However, Yamaha said that the bikes to be developed in India will be significantly cheaper than before, given the R&D costs being half of those in Japan.
