New VW Touran Goes on Sale in the UK

The British division of Volkswagen announced today pricing for the new Touran compact MPV, which can be ordered starting today at nationwide dealerships. Getting straight to the point, the Touran has a starting price of GBP 17,585 RRP on the road, with the first deliveries set to take place on September 22.

The new Touran was unveiled at the Leipzig Motor Show in April, showing the design lines seen on the Polo and the new Sharan. Exterior highlights include revised front wings, bonnet and front bumper as well as new wing mirrors, rear lights and a restyled tailgate and bumper.

Inside, the MPV comes with revised entertainment and climate functions, a new three-spoke steering wheel and restyled dials. In addition, air conditioning, alloy wheels, roof rails, a CD stereo system, ABS, Electronic Stabilisation Programme (ESP) and six airbags are all fitted as standard. Customers can choose between a five and a seven seat configuration.

The car also comes fitted with the second generation of Park Assist, a system that requires less space to perform parallel parking manoeuvres, allowing the Touran to be parked in spaces at 90 degrees to the kerb.

Fitted for the first time to the Touran is the advanced new 1.2-litre TSI petrol engine, developing 105 PS and 175 Nm. A further petrol and four diesel engines will be available, ranging in power from 90 to 170 PS.  Three trim levels – S, SE and Sport – will be available, with BlueMotion Technology variants being offered with each.
