A fresh story right off the printing press in Germany brings both good and bad news for fans of the VW Scirocco. The good news is that despite lack of demand, VW is not giving up on the model, the bad being the next generation won't be ready until 2017 at the earliest.

Auto Bild
also states that the model will remain a Golf derivative and that it will keep its four-seater layout and generous rear hatch. This basically means that a major rethink is not going to be made.

Other Vdubs which AutoBild say are coming by 2020 include the Phaeton for 2015, the T6 van and passenger van for 2015 as well, plus a roster of crossovers and SUVs, ranging from the Taigun to a 7-seater vehicle. They also say the next generation Polo is coming in 2015 and will have LED headlights.

Our say: The Scirocco was supposed to have a complete transformation for the next generation, which was supposed to arrive sooner. We think the market case for the car has changed because they are going to launch it in the US next year.

He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
