In 2003, the T5 generation of Volkswagen Transporter was launched across Europe and proved very successful. The model received a heavy facelift in late 2009, receiving a set of Passat-like headlights, common-rail diesel and the DSG7 gearbox.
According to the Germans at Autobild, the new model is going to replace the T5 in 2015. The new T6 van will be heavily influenced by the styling of the cars Volkswagen makes, as proven by the e-Co-Motion concept that was shown a year ago, which looks a bit like the Golf VII.
Engine options will likely include a 2.0-liter 224 PS engine and a 231 PS 2.0-liter diesel engine (??). DSG will obviously be an option, as will 4Motion all-wheel drive. Engineers will focus most of their efforts on increasing practicality and lowering emissions and fuel consumption. The T6 could thus be much lighter than the T5 thoghu use of aluminum/
