Czech automaker Skoda was proud to announce that its new Octavia RS is the fastest Octavia the company ever built. And with 220 HP coming from the petrol engine we really can’t argue with Skoda on this one.
Now what do you do when you roll out the fastest vehicle you’ve ever developed? You round up the marketing team and create an appropriate add. One that comes with a good dose of chutzpah and tries to say the new Octavia RS is a show stopper. Even among people who have access to larger-than-life toys, tools and ice-creams. You get the idea.
While the commercial itself is not bad, the message is very much ironic. And that “it’s not your everyday family car” statement doesn’t help. Nice try Skoda.
As we previously reported, the new Skoda Octavia RS will go on sale in the United Kingdom on August 1 with a choice of two engines - a 2.0-liter TSI petrol unit good for 220 HP and a 2.0-liter TDI mill rated at 181 HP.
