The SEAT Leon Cupra is currently the fastest sports hatch to power its front wheels around the Nurburgring track in Germany. With a time of 7 minutes and 58 seconds, this 280 hp car is easily the most interesting one ever created by the Spanish automaker, and yet somebody has managed to make it even better.
Enter the German tuning specialists JE Design from Leingarten. With years of experience tuning 2-liter turbo engines, they had no problem extracting even more power from the Cupra. How much more? 350 hp, enough to get the competition foaming at the Bocanegra.
In addition to the 70 extra hp, the 2-liter TSI has also received 440 Nm of torque (325 lb-ft), enough to turn the tires into track-torturing machines. With all this power at its disposal, the hot-blooded lion from Martorell sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in a blistering 5.1 seconds, 0.6 seconds faster than when stock.
The cost of the added engine performance is €1,899 and if you have even more cash saved up, JE will pet you have a look through Aladdin's cave. There, you will find the perfect KW coilover suspension which brings 45 mm closer to kissing the road at the cost of another €2,299. A cheaper alternative exists in the lowering springs for original shock absorbers, which cost just €236 and reduce 35 mm of height.
Another expensive but interesting add-on is the sports exhaust system with quad pipes, each measuring 80 millimeters. The standard cost of this is €2,023 or €2,392 when carbon fiber tips are added.
Completely transforming the Leon's otherwise retrained look is a new front spoiler (€417) and two carbon fiber side skirts (€357). These are joined by 19-inch wheels in sticky in the Y-Spoke design JE Design is known for Complete with 235/35 R19 tires, these add another €1,851.
At the end of the day, this SEAT is almost as fast as an Audi S3 and almost as expensive as well. For some fans of the brand, that's the perfect combination.
