Renault's exiting new large sedan prototype has been spotted for the second time undergoing road testing in Europe. The prototype is camouflaged differently than before and fresh design details can be seen. For example, the headlights have a J-shaped line on the side, which most likely serves as the DRLs.
From the angles our spy photographers managed to capture it, the Renault sedan seems positively gigantic, a much more substantial car than the two generations that came before it. Of course, Renault has another car this size, the Latitude, which is based on a Korean model made by Samsung.

Some time in 2015 when the new Laguna is revealed, the Latitude will go out of production after disappointing sales results. Initially available only as a 4-door sedan, the model will also have an estate version which will debut in 2016, most likely at the Paris Motor Show. This will help the French company better compete with VW's Passat and the Ford Mondeo, which are the segment leaders in Europe at the moment.

The Laguna is part of a more streamlined lineup of cars from Renault. It's likely based on the same platform as the Espace and will come with a similar lineup of downsized 1.6-liter turbo engines. One will come from the Clio RS and produce 200 hp, the other choice being diesel with either 130 or 160 hp.

We think Renault's sales pitch will target BMW 3 Series buyers by offering them lower emissions and more equipment. LED headlights should be fitted as standard and metallic paint or large alloy wheels will be cheap.
