New Mission Motors R Electric Superbike on Track

San Francisco-based electric motorcycle manufacturer Mission Motors, the creator of the Mission One bike, the world's fastest street-legal pure-electric motorcycle, is to unveil the Mission R, the company's new all-electric racing superbike at the Long Beach Progressive International Motorcycle Show Friday, December 17, 2010.

Members of the media will be the first to witness this new creation, but it will stay on display for all show attendees to see through December 19, 2010 at the Long Beach Convention Center.

The R features Mission's next-generation MissionEVT powertrain components and will reportedly be the most advanced racing machine on the grid in 2011.

“The racing circuit is the proving ground for Mission technology. Our customized Mission race bikes carry the same advanced electric powertrain found in our production motorcycles. Mission’s Motorsports Team will compete in races throughout the 2011
Season. Through a commitment to success on the track, the Mission Racing team aims to set the mark for electric performance,” Mission writes on their website.

As you can see in the adjacent picture, the new electric superbike model will have a much more streamlined body and a much smaller overall package than the original Mission One.

The Mission One Premier Limited Edition (PLE) features an advanced electric drive system that powers the bike to a top speed of 150 mph. Other key features of the $68,995 machine include a fully adjustable Ohlins suspension, Brembo brakes, and Marchesini wheels.

In addition to that, with a fully equipped data acquisition system and wireless communication capability, riders can capture and analyze real time ride data. Riders have the power to adjust throttle maps, tune regenerative braking, and create multiple ride settings, all from a laptop computer.
