New MINI Cooper to Come As Five-Door Hatch
Now, that model will come as a five-door in order to rival other compacts from the VW Group. But we never though MINI would go as far as offering the Cooper five-door as well.
However, the automotive media is not filled with various reports that state the F56 will also have a five-door hatchback variant.
The rear doors are supposedly very short and cut over the wheel arch, permitting the design to stay largely the same as the 3-door variant.
Motoring File reports that this is a styling direction MINI needs to take to appeal to more family-oriented buyers who have never been able properly seat their children in the back.
Inside sources suggested that the rear doors will open conventionally, unlike the Countryman, and will expend all the way to the rear gas cap. Still, if Germans managed to make an Audi A1 five-door... we’re not that concerned about the maxi-MINI.
