About a week ago, Koenigsegg was spied assaulting the Nurburgring in an Agera test vehicle. Alas, the Green Hell has now assaulted Koenigsegg - the hypercar prototype has had a serious crash while testing this afternoon.
According to our spy shooters, the hypercar succumbed to the tricks of the Hohenrain chicane. To get a better idea of what happens around that portion of the track, we’ll mention the Hohenrain follows the Döttinger Höhe and the Tiergarten, where a car of this caliber can easily go past 300 km/h (186 mph). Apparently, the driver wasn’t able to brake enough, with the entry speed for the chicane being too high.

The Agera prototype seems to have sustained damage at both ends. As for the test driver and his passenger, they were picked up by an ambulance and taken to the hospital. Even though it looks as if they were injured, their condition is currently unknown, so we could, hopefully, be dealing with a light situation.

Aside from the obvious battle scars, nothing has changed about the test car’s appearance. The starting point here was the Agera R, but you can see a “development car” tag on the lower part of the front splitter. Moreover, the side mirror seems to be borrowed from the ONE:1.

This isn’t random though. We’ll remind you that the One:1 is a super-exclusive model, which required a lot of research and now we expect the Swedes to integrated some of the lessons they’ve learned into a model with a larger audience, if we can call the expected Agera R evolution that.

Before we move on to talking about the One:1, we’ll remind you the Agera R already holds the Guinness World Record for the quickest 0-300-0 km/h. Nonetheless, it’s no match for the One:1.

The latter, of which the K brand is only building six units, is known as the Megawatt car - it packs 1,341 hp, or one Megawatt. Because they like their specs symmetrical and thanks to the fact that this also helps with the performance, the engineers at Koenigsegg have cut the weight down to 1,341 kg (2.954 lbs) - hence the designation.

This is some sort of a petrol-only response to the hybrid hypecars coming from Ferrari, McLaren and Porsche. Nonetheless, it’s not like lacks technology - for instance, its titanium exhaust is 3D printed, while the twin turbos feeding its 5-liter V8 feature variable geometry.

The upcoming Agera model may not be able to pull 2gs through the twisties like the One:1, but expect it to seriously tickle your funny bone.
