The first Dacia model that can climb both the sidewalk and rocks, the Duster, wasn’t that well received when it came out a few years ago. Some said that the Clio-derived platform wasn’t refined enough, but from Brazil to Bangladesh, it proved to be the only car a lot of people needed.
Having launched a facelift for the car at this year’s Frankfurt Motor Show in September, Renault has given us a fresh look at the 2014 Duster before putting it in showrooms.
Besides the many photos and driving footage of the car, they also released details about the new turbocharged engine available with this Duster model. A 1.2-liter TCe borrowed from Renault is officially rated at 125 PS and 205 Nm of toque. Renault say that 90% of peak torque is available from 1,500 rpm and all of it kicks in at 2,000 rpm.
They say this more powerful engine helps the Duster get from 0 to 100 km/h in 9. seconds and in 4x2 models is responsible for average fuel consumption of 6.3 l/100km.
Renault says that they’ve made improvements to the noise levels inside the cabin, added ESC stability control and four airbags as standard across the range.
