New Brake Superkit for Nissan GTR by Alcon

British manufacturer Alcon recently announced a new brake superkit for Nissan GTR that boasts 6-piston monobloc calipers front and rear with 400x36 mm disc. The high-performance brake system was especially designed to handle the great amount of power developed by last-generation GTR, Alcon said.

Specifically, the so-called superkit comes with 400 mm (15.75-inch) diameter two-piece floating front rotors, which means they are 20 mm (0.75-inch) larger compared to the standard units. They feature 6-piston monoblock calipers made from solid aluminum billet. "These mammoth calipers house high coefficient pads with a sizeable increase in surface area, providing a significant increase in performance over the standard equipment," Alcon explained.

On the rear, the new kit brings smaller 6-piston calipers mated to 385 mm (15.16-inch) diameter rotors - larger than the stock 380 mm (15-inch) units. The original parking brake is untouched so it remains fully functional, the part manufacturer said.

"Both front and rear upgrades fit within the stock GTR 20" wheels, and are compatible with the factory actuation system."

As for the GTR, in case you're still in doubt over the performance figures it is able to provide, the 2010 model recently managed to beat its ownNurburgring record, setting a lap record of 7:27.56.

The new record was official established on April the 15th, after a run at an ambient temperature of 21 degrees Celsius, a track temperature of 26 degrees and relative humidity was 25 percent. The Nissan GTR boasted Nismo ClubSport Rays 20-inch forged aluminium wheels shoed with Dunlop tires. Nissan said in a press statement that "although dry, the track surface grip was impaired by dust and sand."
