New Alpine A110 Successor Details Revealed
Speaking to Autocar, Renault COO Carlos Tavares said the new Alpine will rival the Alfa Romeo 4C and will appeal to “well heeled traditionalists and younger driving enthusiasts” thanks to its styling that blends both retro and modern cues.
Tavares added that the car’s styling is about 70 percent complete and that a concept car might be unveiled as late as 2015. Rumor has it the new Alpine will be powered by a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with an output of 280 bhp. The sportscar will be available for about £50,000 (€58,500, $76,300).
The original Alpine A110, one of the most famous French sportscar, was built from 1961 through 1977 in a two-door coupe body style. Powered by Gordini engines, the A110 was a very popular racing car and won the World Rally Championship in 1973 after claiming six wins out of 13 events.
