Nelsinho Piquet Faces Departure Speculations After German Grand Prix
The German Auto Motor und Sport publication already assigned a thorough article on the matter. They revealed that Nelsinho's contract with the Enstone based team allows Renault to make a driver change according to his performance until the end of the first half of the season. This clause isn't present in Fernando Alonso's contract. In their report, Auto Motor und Sport mentioned Romain Grosjean as a possible replacement for the Brazilian F1 driver. The French-Swiss driver is currently leading the GP2 series and benefits from an ascending trend and support among French fans and critics.
Rumors of imminent departure are also something that French driver Sebastien Bourdais is facing nowadays. After being very successful in North American open-wheel series Champ Car, the Frenchman faced a struggling career in F1. Annoyed by the constant media pressure since his arrival in F1, Toro Rosso's driver had a very fed up answer: “I don't know anything. If that is the only thing that interests you then I don't have anything to say. Is That clear to everyone?”, Bourdais told the French radio station RMC.
“At every race someone says this is my last race, but with Toro Rosso nothing has changed since the beginning of the season” concluded the Frenchman.
With the current instability in Formula One regulations and contracts, another driver targeted by media speculation is Fernando Alonso. While some allegations were made about him signing with Ferrari for the next season, Renault's CEO Carlos Ghosn had the following to say for radio Europe 1: “As far as I am concerned, he'll be driving a Renault next year”.
