Ever since the digital era kicked in, sound streaming devices have turned smaller. Sure, this is quite helpful since nobody really likes walking around with a device the size of a plate in their hands. Problem is all this detracting also led to a big decrease in the quality of the songs.
Neil Young’s Pono Music comes to a rescue and promises a first-class service that will solve just that. And to make things even better, new reports are that his sound system will be integrated in some of the new cars to be manufactured.

If you don’t know who Neil Young is maybe you should spend some time streaming the legendary artist online. Good, now that we solved this, let us take a step further and understand what the artist wants from the music industry.

You see, digital means small, small means limited storage space, which means little audio formats. MP3 is the most popular one, even though there are plenty of bigger ones that people use. However, none of these formats is even close to reproducing the song as it sounds the moment a band records it.

Here’s where high definition digital music services come in. Their purpose is quite simple: return to the quality of old-school vinyl, but keep things in the 21st century. The actual result, however, is quite difficult to produce. Sure, there are currently a ton of companies trying to design that, but so far most of them are either too expensive or less consumer-friendly.

After all it’s always simpler to pay a couple of bucks a month to get millions of songs at the distance of a click, while streaming songs online. But Neil Young is one of the fearless believers that will not give up quite yet. The Heart of Gold singer has just unveiled his company’s plans on conquering the world of high-quality music service, at this year’s International Consumer Electronics Show.

Apart from a triangle-shaped player and a music store for purchasing high-definition tunes, Neil Young has also announced that the young company is teaming up with Harman. Harman is an original equipment manufacturer that provides brand audio systems to important auto makers such as Mercedes-Benz, Toyota/Lexus, BMW, Hyundai, Kia, Rolls-Royce and General Motors.

Sure, some believe Neil Young’s music service is yet too expensive, under-developed (it offers very few songs so far and the quality is still not that big as promised) and not that friendly to customers who prefer streaming services. But if there are people out there that really know how music should sound, Neil Young is definitely one of them.
