"Near-Production" Golf VII GTI Concept Held Down With Straps
We already know the new GTI is one of the most lack-luster attempts at making a hot hatch, but we never new just how many corners they’d cut. The GTI concept that describe as near-production in the press releases couldn’t be further from this.
German online magazine Vau-Max looked underneath the Golf GTI concept shown in Paris and to their horror found that the suspension was held down with straps. This was used to compress the springs and make the car look lower. So we wouldn’t really be surprised if the “near-production” concept was nothing more than a dressed up regular old Golf.
Volkswagen is one of the world’s biggest automakers and if they wanted to, they could have thrown in millions to make this concept. After all, a set of custom springs from KW would have fixed this problem easily.
