Whether he’s turning left in the right way, or simply was right when he decided to follow a career in professional racing, one thing is sure: Joey Logano is going in the proper direction. He became the second-youngest Daytona 500 Champion this year, and just won the Bank of America 500 at Charlotte Speedway on Sunday. But where are all his winnings going?
Well, judging by the vehicle he recently bought, it appears he likes to keep things nice and old. Vintage, that is. Ford’s 1924 Model T may as well be a loan the team gave him as a courtesy gift, considering he’s doing such an excellent job. Logano is currently driving the No.22 Ford Fusion in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series for Team Penske, and considering he signed a multi-year contract extension with the team, he’s not going anywhere for the next couple of years.

Since we’re certain you guys know all about what the pro driver has been up to lately, we’ll look into what he’s driving instead. Nowadays, you’d most likely need a fortune to get one of these vintage cars, but back in their heydays, they were generally regarded as the first affordable automobile, the car that opened travel to the common middle-class American.

Not that the vehicle itself wasn’t a great piece of machinery, but Ford’s efficient fabrication, including assembly line production instead of individual hand crafting did help a lot with that. 16.5 million units were sold, which still puts it in the top ten list of the most sold cars of all time.

Prior to the Model T, driving your own car was a luxurious matter not many people afforded. But this car set 1908 as the historic year that the automobile became popular for the mass market. What Logano is driving in this picture may not be the first production Model T from 1908, but that doesn’t make it any way less cool.

Cruising down the road in my new @ford...well at least new to me! 1924 Model T Mû
