N/H/L Signs Alex Lloyd for Homestead

The 24-year-old will race alongside Graham Rahal in the Firestone Indy 300 at Homestead-Miami Speedway on October 9-10, 2009. Lloyd had raced for Ganassi since they dominated the 2007 Indy Lights, but this year they parted ways in the summer.
"Lloyd holds the distinction of being the only driver to win on both the Indianapolis Motor Speedway’s road course (Indy Lights, 2006) and famed oval (Indy Lights, 2007). He won eight of the 15 races en route to the 2007 Indy Lights championship including a win at Homestead-Miami Speedway after starting second. He also won five poles, finished in the top-five 13 times and led a total of 399 laps during his title-winning season," said the team's press statement.
"Lloyd’s championship in the 2007 Indy Lights Series and his terrific drive at the 2009 Indianapolis 500 bodes well for what he and Newman/Haas/Lanigan Racing hope to accomplish together," closed the team statement.
The Newman/Haas/Lanigan Racing team started the season with Dutch driver Robert Doornbos, who also ran for a short period of time in Formula One, but he later left for his former Champ Car team HVM. Then N/H/L Racing signed Oriol Servia on a race by race basis.
Because the team didn't announce its driver for the penultimate race at Motegi, it is believed Servia, who took seventh place last race at Chicagoland, will be the most likely choice.
