| myCOMAND Infotainment System |
Mercedes claims to bring easy Internet access for the driver and passengers along with features like optimized web browsing, web radio, Internet telephony and traffic related information. The myCOMAND platform is designed to be highly autonomous without the need of any hardware updates.
The only updates the platform will need are for new firmware versions, web browser and other related updateable software, all done through the use of its Internet connection, without any user input.
All functions of the myCOMAND infotainment system are designed for complete integration, reliable operation and data protection as one of the highest priority. However, possible security and bandwidth issues can occur depending on the Internet access point location.
With its design solely based on absolute up-to-dateness and unparalleled functionality, the satellite navigation system has added support for last minute changes involving traffic jams or finding cheap filling stations.
Another feature is the Trip Assitant which presents the driver with updated weather information as well as booking hotel rooms, restaurant tables and theater tickets.
Some of the intuitive design aspects consist in the brilliant resolution display, positioned in the driver's field of vision and an ergonomically designed rotary pushbutton (resembling the iDrive button on BMW) which enables a simple and accurate operation.
