MV Agusta decided to introduce its latest weapon in the superbike wars at Phillip Island, only hours before the proceedings of the kick-off World Superbike 2015 championship round started. Cutting to the chase, we’ll bluntly add that the MV Agusta F4 RC loos really sleek, with a rather sober and conservative livery, and it hides awesome power and seemingly takes things to the next level.
The main thing about the graphics is obviously the rather discreet presence of the AMG logo on the side panels and the front cowl, neatly integrated with the “tricolore” Italian flag accents. We were maybe expecting to see something more flamboyant for no reason, but the sobriety of the MV Agusta F4 RC is definitely a thing we like. Nice to see Mercedes is leaving MV Agusta keep its identity.

212 hp for power on tap plus a ton of other racing goodies for customers

You cannot see, but you will feel the improvements the RC version of the MV Agusta F4 received for 2015. The Schiranna engineers worked around the clock to overhaul the old liter-class in-line four engine and they managed to homologate it with a nominal 212 hp power figure.

MV Agusta briefly describes what makes the F4 RC a fearsome superbike mentioning the “trellis frame with aluminium plates, the single-sided swing-arm, the removable gearbox and, on the three-cylinder bike, the shell-cast closed-deck crankcase with integral bore liners, the integrated water and oil circuits and titanium valves, radially arranged on the four-cylinder engine.”

However, the high-performance parts roster also includes a lightened crankshaft, redesigned cylinder head, larger fuel injectors, lighter pistons, titanium conrods and bolts, a lighter transmission, magnesium engine covers and a light lithium Ion battery. The fairings are made from carbon fiber and so are the air ducts, while the suspension comes from Ohlins. The rims are forged.

It looks like customers can have the new MV Agusta F4 RC for €36,900, which translates to $41,830 by today’s exchange rates. But the good things don’t stop here, because MV Agusta is offering some extra cool stuff as part of the deal. Since you’re supposed to buy a racing bike, the Varese house will supply a branded crate which contains a full racing exhaust system made entirely from titanium, a racing ECU, a carbon fiber rear seat cowl and aluminium mirror caps.

Basically, this is the closest you can get to a WSBK machine without being a World Superbike rider like MV Agusta's Leon Camier or an SBK mechanic. The racing trim helps the MV Agusta F4 RC tip the scales at 175 kg (386 lb) dry and cranks 111 Nm (81.8 lb-ft) peak torque. Fastbikesmag also says that the brochure which is delivered with the F4 RC is also carbon fiber… This is painfully elegant, really!
