Munich Fire Department Gets BMW X3

While dealers await the new BMW X3 F25 deliveries to commence, the Munich Fire Department acquired the last batch of eight units from the previous X3 Model. The company had a long history of providing emergency vehicles for the Munich Fire Department, so it's expected that the fire brigade will also receive an emergency vehicle based on the F25 bodystyle, although BMW hasn't started developing one.

Munich's emergency medical fleet will use the E83 X3 as a response unit in the Bavarian capital. The emergency physician vehicles are based on the X3 xDrive20d which use 2.0-liter, four cylinder diesel engines with a power output of 177 hp and maximum torque of 200 Nm (150 lb-ft). On the top is a Hansch DBS LED lightbar, while Hansch Sputnik nano grill lights were installed at the front. The vehicle also has two sirens: an electronic Hansch Typ 520 and an air pressured Martinshorn.

We are pleased that the Munich-based emergency physicians will use our BMW X3 in the future. All BMW vehicles are dynamic and reliable, which also applies to emergency vehicles. With the BMW xDrive all-wheel-drive system, the BMW X3 will handle well even in extreme emergency situations. Of course, the use of vehicles with our Efficient Dynamics “technology package” comes standard and consumption numbers are the best in class,” said the General Manager of Regional Marketing for Asia Pacific, Christoph von Tschirschnitz.

We are happy with the BMW X3, a safe and versatile vehicle. The new vehicles will be used throughout the city of Munich and the surrounding area,” stated Wolfgang Schauble, fire chief of the Munich fire department.
