Bike transportation company Motorcycle Shippers just announced the introduction of its new Cycle Skid compact, wooden shipping platform that comes with everything you need to safely haul your machine around.
Cycle Skid was designed especially for globe-trotting adventure riders who need to cross the ocean or sea. Domestic motorcyclists are targeted too, as the platform is ideal to ship their bikes to rallies and other shows.

On the commercial side, Cycle Skid can be used by trade show vendors, motorcycle tour operators, moving companies, exporters, barge operators and everything in between if motorcycles need to be transported between cities or continents.

Developed using Motorcycle Shippers’ experience gained in 22 years, the Cycle Skid’s unique design comprises a three-piece quality wood platform that slide together to create one sturdy platform.

The company says it’s easy to use and usually requires one person to set up. The platform is reusable and comes with carabiner-style locking hooks, 66-inch (167 cm) ratchet straps with integrated soft-tie loops and even a universal water-resistant, breathable bike cover.

When fully assembled, the Cycle Skid measures 104 inches (264 cm) long, 42 inches (106.6 cm) wide and can take up to 800 pounds (363 kg), meaning it can handle most bikes in the industry. When disassembled for storage, the platform is half as long and just 11 inches (28 cm) tall.

Learning that it’s made out of three individual pieces, you’d wonder how in the name of combustion would you move it around. Fear not, as the platform is forklift- and pallet-jack-friendly.

Price wise, you can have your own Cycle Skid for $449 and can be shipped via FedEx and UPS due to its small size when collapsed and weight of less than 150 pounds (68 kg). Shipping is also free in the United States.

Southern California-based Motorcycle Shippers company is the official provider for BMW’s MOA group, Kawasaki’s ROK program, the GWRRA and a longstanding member of the Motorcycle Industry Council. The company managed to successfully ship over 77,000 motorcycles in 22 years.
