After the Sunday Czech GP race, the MotoGP teams have remained for an extra day in Brno for a new official testing session, where Honda and Yamaha have brought their 2015 prototypes for further refinements. Having finished just off the podium in the last Grand Prix, 2013 champion Marc Marquez managed to claim the first position in the tests.
MM93 was really eager to regain confidence after his team mate Dani Pedrosa stood in the way of yet another history-making victory, which would have made him the first rider to win the debut 11 races of a season. Marquez put in 65 laps aboard both the 2014 and the 2015 machines, and managed to set a new lap record. His 1’55.411 beats both the standing 1’55.527 pole position Cal Crutchlow had in 2013, and his own Saturday pole (1’55.585).

Jorge Lorenzo was the second-fastest man on the Czech asphalt, 0.155s slower than Marquez, but almost half a second faster than the Sunday winner, Dani Pedrosa. While many were expecting Rossi to be the 4th rider of the test, his place was occupied by a very fast Aleix Espargaro, who lapped only 0.159s slower than Pedrosa.

Bradley Smith was 5 thousandths of a second slower than the Doctor, followed by Aleix’ brother Pol, Stefan Bradl, Alvaro Bautista and Yonny Hernandez for the top 10. The only other Ducati on the track was test rider Michele Pirro, who was 11th. Scott Redding confirms his excellent shape and was 13th, behind local star Karel Abraham, and ahead of Nicky Hayden’s substitute rider Leon Camier. While team Drive M7 Aspar did not want to bring Hayden on the bike too soon, it’s not yet clear whether Camier will be substituting for him in the UK round at Silverstone in a fortnight’s time.

Motogp.com still withholds information as of which bike did Loris Capirossi ride in the Brno test. As you can observe in the time sheet below, he was 18th, but no team is listed with his name. Is it an “undercover” Aprilia, maybe?

As for the Brno MotoGP circuit owned by Karel Abraham’s family, Dorna Sports and Mr.Stanislav Juranek, Vice-governor of the South Moravian Region and Mrs. Ivana Ulmanova, CEO Brno Circuit have agreed and confirmed the MotoGP Czech round for next year. It is unclear why the Brno circuit hasn’t a multi-year deal yet, especially as the audience for the race Sunday reached over 138,000, which is significantly more than other venues can muster for a similar event.
