I Want to Drive!... Even if my financial situation is a bit far from tying up with that of my colleague Bach, you probably already know I'm not actually poor either. And that's just to be modest. Yet, I don't like helicopters and I only use planes if I really have to. I'm a fan (age ... Continue reading >

Residents of Portland seem to face the financial crisis well, or at least that is what we thought of when Ducati announced that its local MotoCorsa dealership sold 61 motorcycles in June, which made it this year’s largest volume Ducati dealers.

The dealership beat its own previous record for most Ducatis sold in a single month, set in 2007, when it sold 50 bikes in one month.

“We closed out the month with 61 new Ducatis,”
said Arun Sharma, General Manager of MotoCorsa. “This is a feat we could have never accomplished without the dedication and enthusiasm of the entire MotoCorsa family, both staff and customers alike.”

This time, MotoCorsa launched "Progetto 51," which began in early June with a mission to sell 51 Ducati motorcycles during the course of that month. The dealership ended the month with a success, as not only did it achieve its original goal, but surpassed its target by 20 percent. A huge challenge, considering that Portland has the second highest unemployment rate in the country.

“The program really turned into a community effort as MotoCorsa employees and local Ducatisti helped the program along by purchasing bikes and even trading up for newer model year Ducatis,” said Michael Lock, CEO of Ducati North America.

“We congratulate MotoCorsa on its record sales month and appreciate Portland’s Ducatisti and their passion for the brand,” added Lock.

The 61st buyer that helped the dealership become Ducati’s sales record holder was local resident Ryan Dalling, a regular MotoCorsa customer who traded in his 2008 Ducati 848 and purchased a new 2009 Multistrada S. Like all the other 60 Ducati owners, Dalling also received:

  • One year of free service under Ducati's "Full Factory Support" program
  • Complimentary SpeedyMoto Frame Sliders and installation
  • A commemorative, signed bottle of CorsaVino "Progetto 51" Syrah.
  • An evening with Michael Lock, CEO of Ducati North America
