Moscot's existence started since the great grandfather and family patriarch Hyman Moscot began selling ready-made eyeglasses from a pushcart on Orchard Street on Manhattan’s famed Lower East Side, back in 1899. Six years later, he finally managed to open a shop on Rivington Street.

In 1951, Hyman’s son Sol moved the shop to its current location on Orchard Street. Today, the company is run by fourth generation Moscot siblings, Kenny and Dr. Harvey Moscot, and has two stores in Manhattan, with their branded eyewear sold at stores worldwide. The company has fans among celebrities such as Johnny Depp, Jake Gyllenhall, Denzel Washington, Sarah Jessica Parker, Kirstin Dunst, Kiefer Sutherland and plenty of others.

So, now you see why Smart has partnered up with Moscot. No? Let us expand.

Engineers of the Stuttgart-based car maker have joined forces with Moscot’s people and created 100 special limited edition “smart fortwo edition Moscot” models. They come with a matching “Lemtosh smart” and the versatile “Moscot smart Drive Package” - all in the eyewear’s manufacturer iconic black and yellow.

Fusing innovation, originality and tradition, the two brand icons have created a fun and functional collaboration, with individual lifestyle products perfectly suited for the urban attitude and lifestyle,” Smart explained in the press release you can consult below. According to the hyper-efficient mini city car maker, the world premiere of the cabriolet two seater will take place on February 28 at the “Moscot 100-Year Anniversary Party” at “Officine De Volo” on the occasion of MIDO Eyewear Show in Milan.

Sure, if you’re not willing to spend a couple of days in Italy, then you could always go straight to Switzerland, since the “Smart fortwo edition Moscot” will have its second major presentation at the Geneva Motor Show, which will be held from March 5 through March 15.
