Last month’s Beijing motor show brought many cars we had never heard of, into the spotlight. One such name is Soueast Motor Co. Ltd., a joint venture between Mitsubishi and Chinese “Fujian” Motor Industry Group, and Taiwanese China Motor Corporation.
The company builds revamped Chrysler and Mitsubishi designs and one such case is the soon-to-be-launched V5, a car based on the previous generation Mitsubishi Lancer. From launch, it will feature Mitsubishi’s familiar 1.8-liter engine which develops 144hp but normally aspirated and turbocharged versions of a 1.5-liter engine will be available after its initial launch.
Being priced from €8,700 (CNY70,000) it will have its work cut out in a very tightly-packed market sector in China, with very limited chances of success. We think it's a decent looking thing, with well proportioned design, and with its Japanese underpinnings it'll probably be reliable too.
