Mitsubishi today announced that it has kicked off production of the all-new Mirage at Mitsubishi Motors Thailand’s (MMTh) Laem Chabang Plan, with this being a global vehicle. The aforementioned site is the largest Mitsubishi plant and export hub outside Japan and a commemorative line-off ceremony was held today to mark the Mirage production start.
The vehicle has already entered the Thai market and is going to be launched in other SEAN countries, Japan, Europe and eventually reach Australia in the course of the following year. So far, the vehicle has managed to impress, with Mitsubishi’s Thai arm registering 15,000 orders for the car so far.
“As the Laem Chabang Plant has started production of the Mirage, it is important to maintain the same level of high quality offered by vehicles produced at plants in Japan. To ensure this, MMC has stationed Japanese inspection experts at the plant to inspect 100% of the vehicles before they are shipped as well as train local inspectors; building a top-level quality control system,” Mitsubishi President Osamu Masuko said.
