The 2014 MINI Takes the States is now officially underway, being kicked off on Sunday by none other than Tony Hawk that was present on the spot in San Francisco. Being a fellow owner and enthusiast, the legendary skater performed a MINI inspired stunt to send the drivers off on their 15-day trip.
Motorists will cover more than 4,500 miles (7,245 km) over the next 15 days, going through 14 states and 18 cities, including locations such as Austin and Dallas, Texas, Memphis, TN, St. Louis, MO, Chicago, IL, and Boston, MA, where the finish line is.

“Pairing Tony’s send-off with our community’s excitement at Golden Gate Fields was a true MINI moment,” said David Duncan, Vice President MINI of the Americas. “You could feel the energy from the MINI community in the air. This is going to be an epic rally like never before!”

If you want to join in the party along the way you can do so, signing up at MINITAKESTHESTATES.com or on site, in each city along the way, with the registration fee being $45 for adults while kids under 12 and pets (yes, you’re allowed to bring your pet too) can come along for free.

More than 350 participants will go all the way, hoping to reach the finish line in Boston on August 10. We wish them all good luck!
