MINI Takes the States 2016 Now Has an Official Date: July 9

Every two years the American branch of MINI organizes a road trip that invites all owners to travel across the country in what they call MINI Takes the States. Next year, the event will take place between July 9 and July 23 while the route will be announced at a later date.

In 2014, MINI owners and MINI USA team members motored into Boston’s Back Bay after completing a 5,142-mile journey from San Francisco that covered 15 cities and 18 states in 14 days. A portion of that year’s event registration fees were donated to Best Friends Animal Society, the charity partner for the rally. A charity partner for the 2016 event will be announced later on.

“MINI TAKES THE STATES 2014 was such an amazing experience that we couldn’t wait to announce the dates for 2016. I also personally wanted the community to know that I am standing by the promise I made in Boston at the end of our last adventure together. We will motor again in 2016!” said David Duncan, Vice President MINI of the Americas.

The last time MTTS was organized, back in 2014, it attracted over 4,000 owners from around the world, not just the US. For example, a couple of folks drove over from Germany to take part in this MINI party. They were actually on their way for an around the world trip and decided to make MTTS part of their endeavor.

What’s great about this trip is that you don’t necessarily have to go the whole way, from one coast to the other. Few people do so and out of the 4,000 attendees that joined in 2014 only 500 did the whole journey. In case you don’t feel like you need to go all the way, you can join for a shorter leg, for example just between two cities for a couple of days of fun. The 2016 trip will be the sixth time MTTS takes place.
