MINI Countryman by Calvin Klein for Life Ball 2010

MINI Convertible by Kenneth ColeMINI Hatch by Diane von Furstenberg
Last year, the Life Ball (Europe’s biggest AIDS charity event) featured the Life Ball MINI 2009, designed by The Blonds for Katy Perry that was offered in a prize draw in order to generate funds for projects battling AIDS. This year, there will be three MINIs to support this good cause again, designed by Francisco Costa for Calvin Klein, Diane von Furstenberg and Kenneth Cole.

This is the first time in the event’s history that three different MINI models are created. Francisco Costa will be designing the MINI Countryman, Diane von Furstenber the MINI Hatch, while Kenneth Cole has a MINI Convertible to tweak.

The Life Ball MINI has so far been designed by famous fashion icons such as Missoni (2003), Ferré (2004) and Versace (2005), followed by Diesel in 2006 and Agent Provocateur (2008) and, last year, The Blonds for Katy Perry. According to MINI, proceeds now total around EUR500,000.

This year, the event will tie in with the 18th International AIDS Conference that starts in Vienna the next day. “On 17th July, in addition to Vienna’s City Hall and City Hall Square, the Burgtheater with its Red Ribbon Cotillion Summer Ball and even the Austrian Parliament – which hosts the amfAR Gala – will be dedicated to the red ribbon cause,” a company statement reads.

The event will be centering around the “Sow the Seeds of Solidarity!” motto and the “Earth” theme, and will have the 2010 Life Ball “planting its seeds around the world wherever there is a real need.”

As with all the previous MINIs, the Life Ball MINI 2010 vehicles designed by Francisco Costa, Diane von Furstenberg and Kenneth Cole, will be given in a prize draw to three lucky participants.
