We often say that it must be great living right next to the Nurburgring but the truth of the matter is, the Green Hell has this nickname for a reason. It’s not that easy to drive fast on the Ring and this poor MINI proves it beyond any reasonable doubt.
As you’re about to see, this unlucky and overconfident MINI driver lost control of his car in a very fast section of the Ring and ended up on the grass. If that would’ve been the whole story we probably wouldn’t be sharing this video with you right now. Unfortunately, the car didn’t stop there.
Because of the excessive speed, the hardtop only stops after hitting the guardrail pretty hard. The force of the impact was so big that the rear axle was basically cracked open after the car landed on its rear left wheel.
According to the original post on Youtube, the airbags deployed and the driver was safe and sound but the passenger had to be taken to the hospital for more investigations.
These kind of accidents happen more often than you might think, especially on Tourist days that are destined for amateur drivers. Fortunately, November is just around the corner and the circuit will be closed for both amateurs and professionals. That’s just until next summer, though.
