This recent article, posted by autoexpress.co.uk, claims that the designer of the recently unveiled MINI Clubvan is in fact a 12 year-old from East Sussex, called Alexander Goldsmith (now 15). The young man claims to have sent a letter to MINI, back in 2009, in order to suggest the production of a van - he even named it the ‘Clubvan’.
In order to boost his credibility, Alexander still has the letter he sent as well as the official response he got from MINI, in which the General Manager’s assistant said that the letter had been given to the company’s Product Department.

Apparently, the aforementioned department actually took the time to read the letter and did so “with great interest”, according to the assistant, who went on to say that “I am not too sure whether we would produce a Clubvan seeing as we already have the Clubman. It requires an awful lot of money to put a car into production.”

If it is true, it would be one of the most inspiring lawsuits stories to hit the industry in a very long time. We honestly hope it’s true, as it will inspire others to do the same, and maybe, that way, we may start seeing more of the cars we want on the road, instead of pointless stuff conjured up as a result of botched marketing studies.
