Katech Performance, as I’m sure Corvette enthusiasts already know, is a company that provided GM Racing with the LS7.R small-block V8. More recently, however, the peeps over at Katech Performance have listed an incredibly interesting URL on its site.
As discovered by GM Inside News, a section of the Katech website had been updated with a page christened C8 Corvette ZR1/ZORA. Additionally, we’re also teased with a model year and an engine designation: 2018+ and LT5.

That page is now offline, but Cached View reveals the page was online on July 15, 2016. What could this possibly mean? From my point of view, Katech Performance is helping GM develop the LT5 V8 engine in the C8 Corvette or the company is working on a tuning package for the much-rumored LT5 V8.

The first of the two scenarios isn’t impossible. If the Ford Motor Company employs Multimatic to manufacture the 2017 Ford GT, why wouldn’t General Motors collaborate with Katech Performance for the engine? Whatever the future holds for us, do bear in mind that nothing is official as of yet.

On the upside, General Motors is the rightful owner of the LT5 and Zora trademarks. Furthermore, the biggest of the Big Three in Detroit recently invested almost $300 million in the Bowling Green assembly plant where the C7 Corvette is made. Be that as it may, the biggest argument for the upcoming C8 Corvette is a set of spy photographs of the mid-engined supercar testing on the track at the GM Milford Proving Ground.

On a final note, the Cadillac CT6 is expected to gain the LT5 V8 for model year 2018. Chief executive officer and president Johan de Nysschen made it clear that the LT5 V8 is a twin-turbo engine with a displacement of 4.2 liters.

De Nyscchen mumbled something about “in the uppers 400s,” yet the twin-turbo LT5 V8 in the C8 Corvette is rumored to make in the neighborhood of 750 HP. Don’t forget to take the quoted output with a big pinch of salt.
